Marius Morosanu
My first memories of photography date all the way back to my childhood. My uncle, an avid photographer himself, would develop his images in a small room at my grandmother’s house. Once in a while, he would let me watch as he would magically transform a piece of film into a real print. I can still remember that distinct smell of developer solution. Back then, my family and I lived in Bucharest Romania under the former communist regime of Nicolaie Ceausescu.
My father, at that time an accomplished architect for the city, is an amazingly talented artist with a seemingly endless imagination for new buildings. My mother, also a professional, worked as a computer programmer for the “National Romanian Department of Light Industries”. I think that it was this mixture of artistic and analytical skills that drove me to my long love affair with photography. Pictures have always been a big part of my life and I learned of their value at a young age. It was in pictures that I would learn about my past and see what the future held for me. Little did I know that my family’s future would lie in the United States.
In 1984, we took the most daring ride of our lives. Through a series of incredibly risky dealings, and with the help of a Russian made rubber raft, my parents and uncle crossed the famed Danube River into former Yugoslavia with me at the “helm”. I still remember sitting at the front of that tinny rubber raft wondering what was happening. At the age of 7 you look at everything as an adventure, and to me that’s exactly what this was. As soon as we set foot on foreign land, my parents let me know what had just happened. Even at such a young age, I knew that Romania was not right for us under its totalitarian communist rule.
It’s been over 20 years since we made that fateful trip across the Blue Danube. Since then, it has been my dream to actively pursue a career in photography. Its mix of artistry, technology and ever changing character fascinate me. The experiences in my life have led me to appreciate the gift of captured memories that photos can give to us. It’s this same passion that I bring into each and every single job that I take on.

Education
Marius Morosanu studied business and finance at Northern Illinois University. Starting in 1995, Marius pursued his passion for design, art and photography while working for his family's wine import business. Later, Marius worked at a well known advertising agency as a print and multi media designer which helped nurture his creative and technical talents. Marius' business, technical, and artistic experience and know-how have greatly benefited in creating Le Rêve Studios LLC.
